History Of The Foundation

Founded in November 2014, the Joseph Penawou Foundation (JP Foundation) is a nongovernmental organisation rooted in Akugbene, Delta State, Nigeria. The Foundation was established by Chief Joseph Penawou, a visionary leader and philanthropist, who serves as its Chairman and is also the Chairman and CEO of Nigdel United Oil Company Limited and First Marine and Engineering Services Limited. Chief Penawou, holding the revered title of Iyasere (Traditional Prime Minister) of Akugbene-Mein Kingdom, has dedicated the foundation to alleviating poverty and improving the quality of life within the community and beyond

Areas of focus include:

  • Free Medical Outreach Programs: Initiated in 2019, these annual programs provide vital healthcare services to underserved communities, benefiting over 3,000 residents each year. The outreach has expanded its scope to include free surgical interventions, distribution of essential medications, and support for primary healthcare facilities. Recent editions have specifically targeted the elderly population, offering specialized care and medical consultations.
  • Scholarship Awards: Committed to empowering young minds, the Foundation provides scholarships to talented students, fostering education and reducing financial barriers for aspiring learners in the region.
  • Health Intervention Programs: In partnership with state and local healthcare initiatives, the Foundation actively supports broader public health goals, including contributions to the Sickle Cell Foundation of Nigeria.

Who We Are

JP Foundation is a non-profit and non-political organisation established for the purpose of serving the underserved communities in Nigeria by providing health, educational and financial needs of the society. We are focused on local communities, families, especially children by providing basic health supplies, educational consultation, and financial needs. We also provide support to parents by creating social services that attract people in need.

Our Mission

To empower underprivileged communities by providing essential medical aid, educational scholarships, youth empowerment schemes and skills acquisition, enabling individuals to overcome barriers and achieve their full potential. Through compassion, collaboration, and commitment, we strive to foster sustainable growth and equity in society.
